"My whole life has been about movement."
I got my first video camera at 16 and it was like a license to create. I already loved watching movies, even ones with subtitles, so now I would make my own. I studied Film Production at Wayne State University for a total of 5 years (just two more and I would have become a doctor). Luckily, I didn’t join the medical profession or else the 2007-08 Detroit Pistons wouldn’t have had their finest intern in the Broadcasting Department. The fast-paced environment in the sports world helped me prepare for the real world. That’s right, I traveled the world living on cruise ships for nearly two years as a videographer. I’ve witnessed everything from glaciers to lost cities and I’ll always remember how good that pizza was that I had in Italy. Internationally known but eager to settle down, I chose weddings and commercial videos as my next venture. People often say to me, “You have the coolest job as a non-fiction filmmaker who creates moving images every day!” And I tell them, “You’re exactly right.”

"Visual arts have always been my passion."
Growing up in Western Ukraine I never even thought of working in the video production business but I always had an interest in visual arts. As a child I started going to art school and enjoyed drawing. When I turned 13 my father, a seasoned photographer, gave me his old film camera as a present and I started to spend more time in the dark room learning the craft of photography. At 14 I was selling portraits of my classmates at school which helped me to pay for my new hobby. Also I started to get more interest in films and music videos.
In 1996 my family moved to Michigan. It was quite a lifestyle change. After a year of hard work I was able to save enough money to buy my first video camera. Words cannot describe how happy I was when I held it for the first time. Back in Ukraine that would have been something unreal, since I would not be able to afford one at the time. I spent a lot of time behind that camera making short films and music videos with my friends and family. After taking classes and winning some awards at local film festivals, I decided to pursue a career in video production which is still my passion till this day.
